I love the strawberry jam on a slice of homemade bread at breakfast time. And also mixed with a homemade natural yogurt to sweeten it and give it a delicious flavor. But we can also use it to refill cakes, cupcakes or in a delicious strawberry cheesecake.
With this homemade strawberry jam I say goodbye to summer and greet the autumn to return to the routine. During these past weeks we have been traveling all over Vietnam and Cambodia and today is our last day of vacation. You can see some photos on my Instagram, although I hope to upload a post soon telling you all about our trip.
Ingredients for homemade strawberry jam:
- 600 g strawberries
- 300 g sugar
- A few drops of lemon juice
* You can adapt the amounts of fruit to your needs, the only «norm» is half weight of sugar than fruit.
How to make strawberry jam:
First, remove the green leaves from the strawberries and rinse it. At this time, weigh the amount of fruit (in my case 600 g). Depending on it will regulate the amount of sugar: half the weight of the fruit (300 gr this time).
Cut the strawberries into large pieces. Place them in a pot with the sugar and a dash of lemon juice. Mix well with your hands by squeezing lightly.
Put the strawberries on low heat for an hour or until get the desired consistency. Stirring occasionally.
I love jams with pieces of fruit inside. If you want to get a smooth jam, grind it when it takes about 45 minutes of cooking. Let cooking until the desired texture.
Finally sterilize some glass jars (boil in water). Fill the jars with the hot jam and turn the filled jars, while they are still hot. Then let them cool completely.
As you can see, it is a very easy recipe with few ingredients. You can make it with any fruit by following these instructions.
I hope you liked this recipe.
